Steel Wire Fishing Line Rigging Reference Guide

  • Option 1: Ghost Tooth Iseni hooks (#6-#15) with wire diameters 0.3mm, 0.35mm, 0.38mm, 0.45mm (hand-snelled)
  • Option 2: Tube Eye Iseni hooks with single copper crimp sleeves (aluminum sleeves can also be used) with wire diameters 0.45mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm
  • Note: Wire sizes 0.3mm to 0.6mm can be rigged using either manual snelling or copper crimp sleeves depending on personal technique

Important Product Notice

  • Made of wire material, stiffer than nylon, highly bite-resistant and abrasion-resistant.
  • Suitable for snells/leaders, lure leaders, rock fishing, saltwater fishing, and targeting sharp-toothed predatory fish; a few users use it in freshwater.
  • For hand-snelling hooks, do not pull too tight at first; tighten after the end line goes up to avoid line bending. For larger sizes or simpler rigging, single copper crimp sleeves are recommended.
  • When using as main line for surf casting/sea rods, sizes above 0.38mm are recommended for experienced anglers to prevent backlash. For sharp-toothed target fish like pomfret, line diameter above 0.38mm is advised.

Wire Cable Construction Types

  • 1x7 construction: 1 strand of 7 steel wires
  • 7x7 construction: 7 strands, 7 wires each (49 steel wires total)
  • 7x19 construction: 7 strands, 19 wires each (133 steel wires total)

Stainless Steel Coated Wire Leader

  • Coated outer diameter: 0.5 mm
  • Structure: 1x7 strand construction
  • Breaking strength: 9 kg (19.8 lb / 18 jin)
  • Equivalent to standard mono fishing line #8; suitable for snells, tying hooks, sabiki rigs, and stringing beads

Tips & Instructions

  • Steel wire fishing line features moderate flexibility, higher stiffness than nylon due to its internal steel wire construction, suitable as leader/snell line for saltwater, rock fishing, sharp-toothed predatory fish, or DIY rigs.
  • Tying instructions: Wrap loosely around the hook shank first and tighten only after pulling the tag end through to prevent line bending. For thinner wire, hand-tying or single copper crimps can be used; for thicker wire, single copper crimp sleeves are recommended.
  • Can be used as sabiki rig main line or leader line. Not recommended for conventional fishing reel spool main line due to stiffness; for reel spools, use 49-strand steel wire line instead.

  • Hanging crystal beads, crystal balls, and steel wire line
